Mango Gatorade… It’s Mango, It’s Gatorade. It’s a little bit of heaven in a bottle. I’ve been a fan of hydration drinks for a while, I guess it’s a bit of a trickle down from my cycling days. Gatorade has usually been a little too thick and sweet for my tastes. I usually opt for Powerade, but tonight when I was doing my late night shopping (very common when I’m up working late on a project or just brainstorming on self-promotional things), Kroger was all out of Powerade.
Apparently they had a sale today, 58¢ for a 32 oz. bottle. Hate it I missed that, but Gatorade was still $1.00 for a 32 oz. bottle so I picked up a few.
Not wanting to date myself here, but I can easily remember the days when Gatorade came in only two flavors. Orange and Lemon-Lime… They’ve added quite an arsenal of different choices since then.
Anyhow, so as I’m browsing the wide range of Gator-tastes I spot the new Mango Xtremo®. I’ve been a big fan of Mango way before the fruit ever caught on the mainstream, and the good folks at Gatorade did this one right. It’s not too thick like some of their flavors can be. It has more of a watery consistency, and the Mango flavor neither has too strong a taste, nor leaves an aftertaste like some mango products can.
Great stuff! Good job Gatorade!
Well, another year has passed and it’s time to figure out what to do differently (or better) for this year.
Those of you who know me, know that I got married a couple months back, so inevitably, many of my resolutions are bound to involve family. But as far as studio concerns go, I do have a few changes in mind that I’ll be implementing very soon.
1. Blog Regularly - I’ve tried to make this site easy for me to maintain and keep up-to-date, however, I do put of contributing to my blog entirely too quickly. I’m not going to set myself up for failure by saying that I’ll contribute daily, or even two or three times a week - but certainly more regularly. No more five month gaps between posts. Future blogs will include more diversified topics, tips on working with a designer (preferrably me), as well as product reviews as I upgrade technologies in the studio.
2. Website Overhaul - Yes, I’ve talked about it a couple of times before already, but I’m tired of looking at this site in its current format and will be updating the look very soon. I had a new look for the site planned and nearly implemented, but quickly got bored of it as well… So I’ve been working on another cleaner, more streamlined look that’s growing on me and hope to have the upgrade completed within a week or so.
3. Develop a Plan - Sounds obvious… but I want to sit down and do some hardcore brainstorming about where I want the studio to be one year from now and then develop a plan to make it all happen.
4. Implement New Technologies - Another no brainer, but I’m constantly looking for new things to make me more streamlined. I enjoy the “work smarter, not harder” mentality. There’s a couple of investments out there that I’m considering that will add new services for my clients as well as offer improvements to internal workflows - hopefully making my life simpler!
5. Email Newsletters - This is something I set up last year, but never implemented. Personally I love newsletters and miss the days of working on the newspaper. As a part of my website upgrade, I’ll be adding an area where viewers can subscribe to an HTML newsletter that I’ll regularly (probably once a month for starters) publish. Planned topics for the newsletter will be design related, as well as a review here and there.
That about does it for now. I’m sure I’ll come across more ideas for improvements as the year develops, but I don’t want to overload myself coming out of the gate!
Happy New Year!

What a blur of a month!
It’s the 24th, today’s Owen’s first birthday. It’s amazing how much he’s grown in such a short period of time! What’s even more amazing is how he looks now compared to even just a few months ago.
It makes me realize what exactly my parents were talking about with they’d say stupid stuff like “you’re growing up so fast,” and “where did our little boy go?” Of course my response to those bits of goofiness was always something to the affect of “shut up mom.”
It’s amazing how things come full circle. On an almost daily basis I hear myself sounding more and more like my parents when I’m talking to Jenna.
It’s fun stuff.

This is my great buddy, Orhan.
He annoys me when I’m trying to work. He hates my art. He informs me of just how wrong I’m managing whatever the task at hand may be, and he’s constantly wanting me to go somewhere with him when I’m up against a deadline. What a buddy.
At least I don’t have a big nose.
I can’t complain too much though. He does drop by and keep me company when I’m in the 100th hour of a weekend project and listen to me gripe about absolutely anything.
Despite his annoyances, I have to hand it to him. He’s a great friend.
Here’s looking at you kid! I’m glad to know you.
